Yes I Can’s Mission to Serve Those in Crisis

The Story Behind Yes I Can Nonprofit Organization

Art Moore, former NFL New England Patriots nose guard, and his wife Gail, a contemporary recording artist, formed Yes I Can in 1979 in Southern California. Using their platform of sports and contemporary music to reach youth and families in crisis internationally. With a heart of compassion and a message of hope, they reach out to individuals from all walks of life through the many programs at Yes I Can. From hosting music workshops and concerts to leading seminars for those struggling with drug and alcohol addictions, Yes I Can is here to provide endless support.

Their work began in southern California and has led them on a path across the country into hundreds of communities, including Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where the home office is now located. Art and Gail were invited to present their Yes I Can Youth program at Dunham Christian School. The response from the student body was so overwhelming, parents, city officials, and local business owners made it evident that the Baton Rouge needed Yes I Can in their community.

Retired New England Patriot nose guard, Art Moore easily intimidates with his towering 6’6 frame, but the Holy Spirit has instilled in him a gentle and caring spirit. During his time as an NFL star, he succumbed to the high life and fame, leaving him restless and empty. Later it led him to a life fueled with drugs and alcohol.

His spiritual journey began at the height of his football career when he almost died. There was an attempt to end his life when a toxic substance was placed in his alcoholic drink. He said the near-death experience should’ve taken his life if God hadn’t intervened. The toxic drink nearly destroyed his digestive tract and forced him to take a medical leave from the NFL. After the event, Art entirely gave his heart to Jesus.

Since then, he has taken the experience and transformed it into a charismatic-styled message of Christ. His determination to spread his personal story and message of hope and faith has taken him across the world to teach kids and adults about how to tackle life’s challenges with the strength of God.

Every child needs counseling. And the idea is that those who go through Yes I Can will be models for the other students and be listeners for some of their peers.
